Julia Farrell was born on 22nd February 1876 in Dublin, daughter of Margaret Farrell, formerly Reid, and her husband Richard Farrell, a tailor. Julia was one of ten children. Her mother died in 1894, when Julia was 18 years old.
In 1896, Julia married a house painter named John Haines and they had a daughter, Margaret. Julia worked as a vest maker.
The 1901 census finds Julia living with her daughter Margaret and several of her younger siblings. Julia has yet to be traced after the 1911 census.
