Facts and Events
In the 30 August 1850 enumeration of the 1 June 1850 census of the Town of Rupert, Bennington County, VT, at
dwelling 83 as family 93 were:
Roberts, Archibald, 33, M, Farmer, $3000 R.E., NY.
Roberts, Laura, 44, F, VT.
Roberts, Louis, 8, M, VT.
Roberts, William K., 3, M, VT.
Stodard, Josiah, 67, M, MA, "pauper".
In the above Roberts family, since Laura Roberts is stated to have been born c1806, she could not have been
Josiah's daughter, and it is unlikely that Josiah would have been entered as a "pauper" if he was Archibald Roberts'
father-in-law. As a declared indigent, he more likely was being housed by the Roberts family on behalf of the Town of
Rupert.
