    8 Feb 1719 Josiah Shearman son of Thomas Shearman late of Kingstown deceased age 16 years & upward appeared and chose his Uncle Jonathan Head of Little Compton, Bristol Co. MA to be his guardian. {Note: Little Compton became part of RI in 1747}

    Information being given to Town Council this day that Lidia Potter widow to Thomas Potter late of South Kingstown deceased that her son Joaias Sherman is of late deceased intestate and leaving no wife but one child a daughter about 2 years old named Mary, and the said widow praying this council appoint some man to be guardian to said child. Jonathan Sherman of North Kingstown appointed to be guardian -- he refused and Abial Sherman to be appointed guardian to said child.

    13 Oct 1729 Abial Sherman appeared & refused to accept being guardian to Mary Sherman daughter of Josiah Sherman late of South Kingstown deceased. Joseph Potter to appear next TC to be a guardian to Mary Sherman daughter to Josiah Sherman late of South Kingstown deceased.

    8 Dec 1729 Joseph Potter appeared & accepted being guardian to Mary Sherman daughter of Josiah Sherman late of South Kingstown deceased.

    12 Jan 1729[30] Joseph Potter appointed Administer Estate of Josiah Sherman late of South Kingstown deceased; he accepts.

  3.   -8 Feb 1719 Josiah Shearman son of Thomas Shearman late of Kingstown deceased, aged 16 years and upwards appeared (South Kingstown Town Council) and chose his uncle Jonathan Head of Little Compton, Bristol Co. MA to be his guarding.
    Note: Little Compton became part of RI in 1747.
  4. -March 8, 1735/6 Lydia Potter widow appeared TC & desired that the guardianship granted to Joseph Potter of Mary Shearman might be revoked & that the said Lydia Potter might be appointed guardian to said Mary Sherman in his room. Council declined. [South Kingstown TC 3:8]
