Facts and Events
Name Josiah Marshall
Gender Male
Christening[1] 29 May 1681 St Ippolyts, Hertfordshire, England

Josiah Marshall was baptised on 29th May 1681 at St Ippolyts in Hertfordshire, son of Susan Marshall, formerly Hobbs, and her husband Nicholas Marshall, a yeoman. Josiah was one of fifteen children.

In 1710, Josiah's mother Susan died. In 1712 Josiah was named in a court case concerning his maternal grandfather's will. At this time he was described as a yeoman of St Ippolyts. In 1716 Josiah was sued by his father, at which time his father was living in Luton.

In 1734 Josiah is listed in the poll books showing he was eligible to vote in St Ippolyts, but noting that he lived in Luton.

In 1737, Josiah was named as one of the beneficiaries of his father's will - clearly they had overcome their differences of twenty years earlier.

Josiah has yet to be definitively traced after 1737. It is possible he was the Joseph or Josias Marshall who married a Sarah and was having children at Kimpton and Luton between 1716 and 1730, but there is at least one other candidate who may be that Joseph or Josias.
