Among those graduating from the [Presbyterian and United Presbyterian seminaries in Allegheny] are Josiah Robert Loughner, who has been called to the pastorate of the Moravia congregation in the Shenango presbytery ... Rev. Loughner, to whom is assigned the seminary post-graduate scholarship of $400 for the best standing in all departments in the seminary curriculum, will probably take a post-graduate course in some Scotland university before assuming charge in Moravia.

Announcement has been made to the congregation that Rev. Josiah Loughner, the new pastor of the Moravia Presbyterian Church and wife, will take up their residence in this vicinity some time during the latter part of May. Western Theological seminary of Allegheny, where rev. Loughner is a member of the senior class, closes about May 20, and Rev. and Mrs. Loughner will come to Moravia immediately. As yet Rev. Loughner has not made up his mind about accepting thescholarship in the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. The offer holds good for a year, and he may decide to go abroad later. ... Mrs. Loughner, the wife of the new pastor, was unanimously chosen as teacher.

THE REV. MR. JOSIAH ROBERT LOUGHNER Mr. Loughner was called to the Scrubgrass and Allegheny Presbyterian Churches in 1933, which churches he served until 1943. ... Mr. Loughner was graduated from Jeannette High School. He was awarded B.A. and M.A. degrees from Washington and Jefferson College in 1904 and 1905 respectively. He was graduated from Western Theological Seminary in 1909 and was ordained in the Shenango Presbytery in May, 1908. For his work at the Seminary he was awarded a fellowship and studied for a year at Marburg University in Germany. In 1929 Mr. and Mrs. Loughner toured Europe and also Palestine. ... Mr. Loughner was pastor of the Bethel Presbyterian Church for nine years, and at Portersville from 1912 to 1916 and also served the Moravia Presbyterian Church near New Castle, Pennsylvania. For seven years he was principal of the Beulah Park Bible School in Allentown, Pa. From 1925 to 1933 he was a Bible conference and evangelistic worker. ... Mr. Loughner was born in Jeanette, Pa., October 30, 1877, the son of Joseph and Rebecca McCreery Loughner. On March 12, 1906 he was united in marriage with Maudress Montgomery. He died in 1947 at his home in Washington, Pa. He is survived by his wife and several nieces' and nephews.
