Will of Josiah's grandfather, Samuel Hatch, dated 13 Jun 1728, mentions "my Six Grand-Children ye Children of my Son Josiah Hatch deces'd viz Edmond, Jabez, Josiah Desier, Surviah and Mary".
↑ There is no birth record for Josiah. The will of his grandfather lists Josiah last among the sons. Ebenezer died before the will, so his relationship to Ebenezer is not strictly known, but as there is no obvious spot to add Josiah between Jabez in May 1709, and Ebenezer born 22 months later, so he is probably born after Ebenezer's birth in March 1711, i.e., no earlier than 1712, and sometime before the end of 1715, since his father died in early 1715. Whether he is older or younger than Mary is unknown, and 1712 is an arbitrary guess fitting these assumptions. No other events in his life have yet been found to provide any further basis for estimating a birth.
