"12 Josiah³ Avered (Israel,² Richard¹), born Aug. 3, 1678, at Dedham, Mass.; died Jan. 16, 1752-3, at Woodbury, Conn. … He removed to Guilford with his mother, after her second marriage with William Jones, in 1687, and remained there some years. In 1727, his name is found on the town account book of Durham, Conn., where he is called Sergeant. In 1732, he bought land in Wallingford, Conn., to which he removed and where he continued to buy and sell land until 1748, when he gave a deed of 45 acres of his estate to his son Abner."
