... Mr. Joshua Williams, the only survivor of the first marriage, was born in 1842, in this county, where he was raised and educated. In September, 1861, he enlisted in the Federal army, company A, 118th Missouri infantry; participated in the following battles: Shiloh, Corinth, Atlanta, Bentonsville, Columbia, and many other engagements too numerous to mention. After the war he returned to this county. In 1865, he was married to Lucinda Johnson, of this county, by whom he had two children, John L. and Marion C. His wife died in 1869. In 1871, he was married the second time to Sarah C. McLain, of this county. By this marriage he also had two children, one of whom is now living, Maudie A. Mr. Williams is an intelligent and progressive farmer, and a man of whom nothing can be said to his discredit.
