Pvt and Ensign in Cont. Army. He enlisted 5 May 1775 at Stonington, CT in 3rd Stonington, Co., Captain Samuel Prentiss, 6th CT Regiment. Colonel Samuel H. Parsons, marched to Roxbury, MA, General Spencer's Brigade until 10 Dec 1775. He re-enlisted 3 Aug 1778 in Capt. Wheeler's Co., Col. Chapman's Regt. under General Sullivan. He was in the Battle of Newport, RI 29 Aug 1778. Discharged 12 Sep 1778 (Source: Adj. Generals Records of Conn in War of the Revolution, 1889 pp 74, 534.) He was appointed Ensign 26 Sep 1777 by the Gov and Comm of Safety of Conn in the Sixth Military Company (8th Reg) in Stonington.
