"Joshua Knowles as 'Knolles' was baptized on 1 March 1634 in St. Peter's Church, Nottingham. Alexander and Elizabeth are both named in this record. He died on 26 January 1711/12 in Fairfield. He was married but childless. Joshua is of particular interest for the light that his probate and land divisions shed on the surviving Knowles descendants, none of whom bore the surname. Joshua died almost forty years after his brother, and almost thirty years after his sister."
