He was the fifth pastor of the Westerly Sabbatarian Church serving from 1773 to 1793. He followed Rev. Thomas Hiscox and was succeeded by Rev. John Burdick. Three hundred and ninety-five were added to the church under his ministry.
He was a member of the Legislature and a Trustee of Brown University.
Served as Justice of the Peace for Westerly.
He took part in the Colonial and Revolutionary Wars. Vet #124809.
