Died 4/6/1969 - hand written on top of obit Father of Local Woman Dies Joshua Berry Akers, 91, of Route 3, Mattoon died Sunday morning in the Hilltop Nursing Home in Charleston.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Schilling's Funeral Home, Mattoon, with Rev. Edward Elliott officiating. Burial in Dodge Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Akers was born in Coles County, the son of Thorton and Dora Horsley Akers. His wife, Nellie, died in 1962.

Mr. Akers is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Fred Easton of Windsor, Mrs. J.W. Jones of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Mrs. J.O. Bullington of Ocean Side, Calif.; four sons, William of O'Fallon, Mo., J.B. Jr. of Scotsville, Ariiz., Don of Humboldt, and theordore of Mattoon; one brother, Lesl Charleston; and 12 grandchildren and 223 great-grandchildren. (this is what it says, but I think it is a misprint)

Mr. Akers was a retired farmer.
