Stoeckley Josephine B, 86, the widow of Vincent I. Stoeckley whom she married June 23, 1909, was the daughter of Fred and Mary (Aichele) Tartter. Her husband died May 6, 1954. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Rosary Society and a Gold Star Mother of the American Legion Auxiliary. She died Aug. 6 from injuries she sustained when she drove her car into the path of a semi at the intersection of N. Riley and U. S. 6 East in Kendallville. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. R. L. Bassett, Whittier, Calif.; and two sons, Richard, Wakefield Circle, and Robert G., Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. A son, Edward, died in military action in 1945. Two brothers and sisters preceded her in death. Services were Saturday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial, Lake View Cemetery. ~ 8-14-1975 + 8-?-1975


Stoeckley Edward C, about 26, son of Mr. and Mrs. V. I. Stoeckley of Kendallville, was killed in action in Manila Feb. 8, 1945. He graduated from Kendallville High School in 1936 and from Indiana University in 1941, entering service not long after graduation from college. Surviving are the parents; the wife, the former Marjorie Hughes, whom he married June 5, 1943; a son, James Edward 7 months; 2 brothers, Richard, Kendallville, and Robert, Fort Wayne; and a sister, Mrs. Theresa Basset, New Orleans, La. + 2-?-1945


Stoeckley Richard, 64, was born May 2, 1911 to Vincent and Josephine (Tartter) Stoeckley. He married Ruth Bolton Jan. 9, 1937. She survives. He was a retired railway postal clerk and a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, Holy Name Society, Elks, trustee of Lake View Cemetery, and an official of the Little Long Lake Association. He attended Notre Dame University. He resided at Wakefield Village and was a lifetime resident of Kendallville. He died Saturday in McCray Hospital. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Ann) Haffner, Syracuse; a son, John R., Chicago, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. R. L. Bassett, Whittier, Calif.; and a brother, Robert G. of Fort Wayne; four grandchildren. One brother preceded him in death. Services were Sept. 22 in Immaculate Conception Church.
