From clafleur@@austin.rr.com: William Daniel Faulkner married Josephine Duncan on March 25, 1852, in Walker County. Josephine had been born in Alabama in March of 1836. Although the family is unsure of the given name of her father, her mother's name was Manuerah (or, Maneuvah), and later married a Harrison in Alabama, then J. W. Rhodes, in Walker County.

In the 1860 Walker County, Texas census, Elba is living with Joseph F. Rhodes, age 29, his wife and daughter, and Maneurah S. Evans, age 47. Since Joseph would have been born before Josephine, and the Maneurah listed is probably their mother, I believe the above-listed information is incorrect, but I'm not sure what the correct information is, since county marriage records show her maiden name to be Duncan.
