    Josephine A. Pittinger
    Josephine A. Pittinger, 86, went home to be with the Lord on January 19, 2009.
    Born in Cleveland, Oh., on March 12, 1922, Josephine had been a Firestone Park Resident for nearly 60 years. She had previously worked as a seamstress for Gordon Uniform and was also a secretary at St. Paul Catholic Church, where she was a longtime member. Jo was the past-president of the Social Solitaires Club, past-president and member of the St. Paul Ladies Guild, and was also a member of the St. Paul Altar and Rosary Society. During her final years, while living at the Jennings Center for Older Adults in Garfield Heights, Josephine was making over 150 rosaries a week for the Our Lady of Fatima Group, which sent them to soldiers overseas.
    Josephine was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Robert J. Sr. and seven siblings. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Robert Jr. and Barbara of Massillon and Richard and Nancy Pittinger of Akron; sister Lilian Lengyel of Cleveland; grandchildren Heather (Jamie) Gooch of Medina, Lisa (Joshua) Golden of Columbus, Oh.,, Ryan (Lindsay) Pittinger of Kent, and step-granddaughter Robin Stott; great- grandchildren Hannah and Jenna Gooch, Caden Pittinger, and step-great-grandchildren Courtney and Cory Hamlin.
    The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron, where a rosary will be said at 4:15 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church in Firestone Park. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations in Jo's memory may be made to the 1815 W. Market St. Suite 108 Akron, Oh 44313. (Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz, 330-724-1281, www.anthonyfh.com)
