The theory (put forth by Marianne Butts) is that he is the father of John Woodard who died in Montcalm County, Michigan, but there is some uncertainty. slw 27 Jun 2004

His grandmother was Jane TORREY. This is the origin of his middle name. Jane Torrey married John Woodard. John Woodard and Jane Torrey Woodard were parents of John Woodard. John Woodard married Roda Whittemore. John Woodard and Roda Whittemore Woodard are parents of Joseph Torrey Woodard.
