Joseph Wheeler [#9925]. "He is said to have been born in Mass., about 1729, and to have died in N.H., about 1805. He settled at Chesterfield, N.H., where he was living in 1770."

    p. 486.

"Joseph Wheeler, b. probably about 1729, was in Chfd. in 1770, having come, as is supposed, from some town in Mass., though, according to tradition, he was Scotch by birth, or of Scotch extraction. ... He appears to have d. about 1805. He is known to have had, at least, 3 ch." [No wife name, children given as in Wheeler: Benjamin, Susanna, John.]

  3. Joseph is placed in this family presumably based on a non-specific OneWorldTree citation (since removed, no identification of any specific record given). He is not placed in this family by Wheeler, p. 30, nor is this birth record found in Southborough, or nearby towns. It is unknown what the basis is for thinking he belongs here. He fits logistically. An AFN identifies him as the Joseph Wheeler who married 1751 Mary Southwick. That marriage does not appear in Wheeler. Wheeler, and other sources appear to rely on History of Chesterfield for their information.
