VanMeter, Joseph - entered service 1776 in Hampshire County, Virginia, in 12th Regiment; entered service in 8th Virginia Regiment; Pensioned age 78 in Hardy County, Virginia 1832, per witness William Snodgrass & County Court Clerk James Can Gamble; query letter in file 1914 from great great grand-daughter Miss Sadie Triplett, Independence, Missouri, says soldier moved from Hardy County, Virginia to Pickaway County, Ohio, where he died.
