Joseph was a naval seaman. He trained at HMS Pembroke at Cheatham. On board HMS Marshal Soult, Monitor, 15 in guns for shelling German positions. "Certificate of Wounds and Hurts": This is the certify the Right Honourable the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty that Joseph Templeton, OS, J53052 belonging to His Majesty's Ship Marshal Soult being then actually upon His Majesty's Service in carrying ammunition cases over the bow was injured on 11th August 1918 by the bow breaking, causing him to fall on to the blister. He sustained a fracture of nasal bones and contusion of face, also wound on right side of upper hip. Age about 18 years. Born at Keighley, Yorks. Height 5ft 4 ins. Hair light brown. Eyes Blue. Complexion Fresh. Particular marks or scars - Nil. Date 14th August 1918. Left the Navy approx 1919. |
