He worked as a baker at age 16 in Liverpool and continued that occupation until a few years before he died. He probably found his bride, Susannah Standen, in Lancashire since that is where she was born. After marrying in 1856 in Liverpool, Lancashire, Joseph and Susannah had ten children born to them, three girls and the rest boys. They were all born in Lancashire or in Cheshire. Sadly though 6 of the 10 died before the age of five. Most were infants. Susannah passed away in 1879 leaving Joseph with the surviving children. The 1881 Census indicates that oldest two living children, Elizabeth and Joseph, were still at home with Joseph, the father, as well as the the youngest two children, William and Charles. Charles died then at age four. Elizabeth and Joseph married. Harriet was a servant until after 1891 and then couldn't be found. William couldn't be found after the 1881 census. In 1891 Joseph, the father, was living with Elizabeth Ann and her second husband. Joseph passed away in 1902. EVEN: Record
