The marriage record of Joseph Seaver was published in the "Columbian Centinel" newspaper in Boston on 23 November, 1799. The item reads: "Joseph Seaver merchant m. Abigail Whitney in Roxbury." A biography of Joseph Seaver was published in the book "Genealogical and Memorial History of the State of New Jersey," published by Lewis Historical Publishing Co., New York, 1910. The article covered the entire Seaver ancestry of Howard Eves Seaver. Joseph's portion reads: "(VI) Joseph [Seaver], son of Abijah and Anne (Winchester) Seaver, was baptized January 20, 1771, and married, November 17, 1799, Abigail, daughter of Elisha Whitney. They had five children: 1. Joseph, born June 17, 1804, see post. 2. Elizabeth Whitney, married, June 29, 1823, George Seaver; 3. William Whitney, born April 6, 1806; 4. Nathaniel, September 24, 1808; 5. Abigail Dana, September 16, 1810, single." In the 1810 United States Census, Joseph Seaver was a head of household residing in Roxbury, Norfolk County, Massachusetts.
