    My ancestor's service in assisting in the establishment of American Independence during the War of the Revolution were as follows:

    First Lieutenant, Capt. Samuel Grant's 6th (3rd Berwick Co) Co., dated Kittery, April 23, 1776, ordered in Council April 29, 1776, that said officers be commissioned; reported commissioned April 29, 1776.

    Also Captain 6th Co. Col. J. Goodwin's (2nd York Co.) regiment of Massachusetts militia, list of officers commissioned, March 21, 1780.
