    … Joseph (Prout), a[bout]. 1651. … Joseph (Prout), Boston, br. of Ebenezer, was selectman, treasr. and many yrs. town clk. to whose careful rec. we owe much; by his will of 22 Sept. 1719, we find his w. Mary Jackson, m. 7 Nov. 1704, and Joseph, then youth, his only ch. He d. 13 Jan. 1721, aged 70. His ch. were Samuel, b. 31 Jan. 1706, d. soon; Joseph, 9 Aug. 1707; and Benjamin, 24 Sept. 1709, d. soon.
