A Genealogy of the Potter Family originating in Rhode Island By Rev. Jeremiah Potter Phenix, R. I.: John H. Campbell, Book and Job Printer 1881 - Page 10 The families named in this work, so far, were all raised in Warwick, R.I., until we come down to Joseph, son of Thomas and Esther Potter, born August 12th, 1757, who married Anna Knight, December 27, 1781, and moved to Dutchess County, New York, with his two other brothers in 1795, though it appears that six of his children, certain, were born in Rhode Island previous to their moving into New York State.
