I advise you from the papers in the Revolutionary War pension claim W 4047, it appears that Joseph Parsons was born in Anson County, North Crolina, in 1760. While living in Montgomery (formerly a part of Anson) County, North Carolina, he enlisted and served in the North Carolina Troops as folows: In 1776, two months as private in Captain Cornelius Robinson's Company, Colonel David Love's Regiment. From June 1780, two and one half months in Captain James Crump's Company, was in the battle of Camden. From July or August 1781, five weeks as Lieutenant in Captain Shadrack Hogan's Company. From October 1781, three months as Captain under General Wade, was in an engagement with the Tories on the "Little River Montgomery" In 1781, two weeks under General Wade, was in a battle at Betty's Bridge on Drowing Creek. In the summer of 1782, three weeks as private in Captain Raiford's Company, Colonel Lytle's Regiment. In August 1782, two weeks as private under Major Douglass. In 1782, three weeks as private in Captain John Lapp's Company In 1782, one month on guard duty under General Rutherford. He was allowed pension on his application executied October 1, 1832, while residing in Montgomery County, North Carolina. He died November 28, 1837. He married in the summer or 1790 or 1791, Nancy Jordan. She was allowed pension on her application executed July 4, 1839, while reisding in Montgomery County, North Carolina, aged sixty-five years. In 1851 it was stated that the widow was dead and had left several children who were all of age and married, no names stated. One daughter married James Bruton.
