Revolutionary War Pension Information
Information from “Virginia/West Virginia Genealogical Data from Revolutionary War Pension and Bounty Land Warrant Records”, Vol. 4, compiled by Patrick G. Wardell, Lt. Col. U.S. Army Ret. :
- Oney, Joseph - born 1754-55 on New Jersey side of Delaware River, north of Philadelphia, not far from Buckingham; entered service 1777 in Montgomery County, (area later Giles County), Virginia, when resided on Clinch River, in Virginia regiment; granted Pension abt. age 79 in Tazewell County, Virginia in 1833 when residing in Giles County, Virginia; William Cecil & Thomas Witten made affidavit in Tazewell County, Virginia, then they served in Revolutionary War with soldier; clergyman William McGuire made affidavit then there for soldier; John Crockett then County court clerk there & Benjamin Estill circuit court judge, applied for pension witnessed by Joseph Draper, last Pension payment in file 1841. F-S8909, R1845.
