I have the same information you do on Joseph Nicely and wife Janetta Johnston. This is not my direct line so have not done a lot of verification, but I would agree that the parents of Joseph are probably Jacob Nicely and Ann Blain. In his will dated May 9, 1836, Rockingham Co., VA, Jacob
Nicely mentions his children, in particular, "my sons John and Joseph, having already received a good deal from in debts I have paid for them and advancements made, I therefore will them nothing..." Joseph, born in 1801, appears to be the oldest son of this couple, and the other children mentioned in the will all coincide with children born in the first decade of 1800-1810. Ann Blain was married previously to a Campbell, and so is also referred to as Ann Blain Campbell. She had one son (from this first husband, son named George Campbell. Hope this helps.
