Obituary in Schenectady Gazette says he lived in Schenectady, NY for 50 years.

There is a lot of confusion about Joseph's age and parents, etc. Joseph's death certificate says he was born on February 12, 1871. His marriage certificate (to Cordelia Lewis) says he was 22 years old on July 4, 1892 which implies he was born before July, 1870 (although the marriage certificate is difficult to read). The marriage certificate also says that Cordelia Lewis was only 20 years old even though Cordelia appeared to be older than Joseph.

In addition, the 1870 Federal Census for Albany, 8th Ward contains a listing with George and Mary Hulse (or Holse or Halse) with a son named Joesph of age 2 (see notes for George Hulse).
