After having a household of 11 people in 1830, we don't know why Joseph is shown living alone in 1840. By 1850, he was not listed in any census & Elizabeth was living with their daughter Mary's family (Buck Gilley). By 1880, she was living with son Burwell at age of 90. So we are not sure if Joseph abandoned his family and then died or moved away.
