    Joseph F. Frantz, 65, of Slatington, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. He was the husband of Dianne B. (Reph) Frantz. They were married for 42 years in June.
    He was a draftsman for Bethlehem Steel Corporation for 34 years, retiring in 1986.
    Born in Washington Township, Lehigh County, he was a son of the late Ralph R. and Minnie (Lauchnor) Frantz.
    He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Slatedale. He served on the church council and as treasurer.
    He was a member of the Lehigh Furnace Sunday school where he served on the board of trustees and was a member of its orchestra.
    He was an Army veteran and member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 7215 of Walnutport.
    He was a past master of Slatington Lodge 440 F. & A.M., member of the Lodge Council Chapter Consistory of Allentown, and a member of the Rajah Temple of Reading.
    He was a member of the West Penn Game, Fish, Forest Protection Association, the Heidelberg Game Protection Association, a past president of the Lehigh Valley Trapshooters League, life member of Ontelaunee Rod and Gun Club of New Tripoli, a member of Algerines Hunting Club, Inc. of Lycoming County, and a member of Wings Rod & Gun Club of West Penn Township, Schuylkill County. He was a member of the Diamond Fire Company and Diamond Fire Home Association, both of Walnutport, and a life member of Citizens Fire Company 1 and the Emerald Fire Company.
    Survivors: Wife; son, Jeffrey J. and daughter, Michele D. Krawchuk, both of Slatington; sister, Jean E. Kuhnert of Chattanooga, Tenn.; three grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
