Lease and counter lease. 100 acres lying at the Southwest Mountains on the south side of Chew's Mill run between Chew's Mill and Capt. John Scott's plantation. For lives of Joseph Eve and Mary Eve. Will of Joseph Eve

Pages 415-16. Will of Joseph Eve of the county of Orange and St. Thomas's Parish, dated 1 Jan. 1779 [1769, 1770?].
To my beloved wife all my estate during her natural life or whilst she remains a widow. In case she should marry she shall keep my Negro man Jack and woman Lucy and all my household furniture and the best horse and her saddle during her life and the rest of my estate being sold, equally divided between my three sons Thomas, John and George and my daughter Sarah Eve, on George Eve paying to his two brothers and his sister Sarah Eve ₤11.6.8 a piece in consideration of a Negro boy that George Eve has had out of my estate already.
My son George Eve do have my still.
To my son Joseph Eve's, deceased, two daughters Betty Eve and Sarah Eve ₤10 a piece at my beloved wife's decease.
My daughter Sarah Eve do keep the bed and furniture that she now has and likewise my son Thomas Eve doth have a bed and furniture before the estate is divided.
My beloved wife executrix and my son George Eve and my friend Johnny Scott executors.
