- Joseph Eakins Last Will & Testament
- Following is a synopsis of the will of Joseph Eakins written in December of 1824 in Rutherford County, NC., and recorded on Oct., 1825.
- "I, Joseph Eakins, Senr., being in a low state of health but sound mind and memory...I give unto my loving wife, Isabella, my negro woman named Caty during her life and at her death to my daughter, Sally Biggerstaff, also the plantation I now live on during her natural life, to be divided between my sons John and George at her death, also all the money on hand and due me for her support with the household furniture and stock. The tract of land lying on the Buffalo Branch containing 200 acres to be sold and $50 to be paid to each of Samuel Biggerstaff's sons: Benjamin and Joseph. The balance of my estate to be sold and divided amongst my lawfull heirs, Sally Biggerstaff, Isabella Wilkison, Thomas Eakins, Samuel Eakins, George Eakins, and John Eakins.
