    Joseph Davidson had a 125 acre farm along the Great Western Road in the Cumberland Gap of Virginia (near the Reed Creek just West of Wytheville, VA). His will, written when he was ill in 1822, lists his children as Polly, Sally M., William, Elizabeth, James W., Amanda Jean, and Joseph J. His wife is listed as "Jean" He and Jean both died shortly after the will was written, orphaning the children. Most of the children were taken in by two family of Grubb men.
