Facts and Events
Joseph Clark was baptised on 3rd March 1717 at Lydiard Millicent in Wiltshire. His baptism record describes him as “Joseph Clarke the base born son of Mary Lewis”, and he appears to have been known variously as Joseph Clark, Joseph Lewis and Joseph Clark Lewis. By 1737 Joseph was married, having a son baptised at Lydiard Millicent. Joseph’s wife is not named on that baptism record, but later records give her name as Mary. Joseph and Mary appear to have had seven children baptised at Lydiard Millicent between 1737 and 1753, although one died when only three years old in 1754. Neither Mary nor Joseph has been traced after 1754. References
