Dad [Frank C. Gambol, Sr.] had some knowledge of working a farm as in his late teens he worked on his Uncle Joe Cicon’s farm in Montana. The story was that Joe Cicon’s raised horses for the United States Calvary. After World War I the army no longer needed horses, so he converted his farm to a cattle ranch in Chester, Montana. The Cicons owned a horse ranch near the Canadian boarder. They raised horses for the United States Army. Later they grew wheat. There were gas wells on their property.
