Will of "Joseph Butterfie[l]d of Nottingham In the County of Middlesex ... Gentleman; Being Weak In Body", dated 20 Sep 1745, probated 26 May 1757, names wife Sarah [sole executrix], sons Benjamin, Joseph, Reuben; Gran Son Benjamin Butterfield Jun'r; three Daughters Namely Deborah Mooer, Sarah Coburn, and Hannath Coburn.

  3.   The Butterfields of Middlesex mixes up the Joseph Butterfields very badly, and since it is commonly cited, it needs to be corrected. It says the Joseph [#13] who was born 6 Jun 1680 was the son of Joseph Butterfield and Lydia Ballard, when the birth record clearly says that Joseph was the son of Nathaniel and Deborah. It says he married Sarah Fletcher when his brother Nathaniel married Sarah Fletcher while his marriage to Sarah Coleburn is recorded prior to the birth of his first child. It mentions a will but gives no abstract, then says a unnamed daughter married a Mr. Small, when the will mentions no such daughter.
