Deacon Joseph3 Booth (Joseph2, Richard1), born presumably at Stratford, Conn., about 1689, died at Stratfield, Conn., 2 May 1763 in 75th year (gravestone); married first, in 1711, Mehitabel Beach, born at Stratford, 30 Sept. 1690, daughter of John and Hannah (Staples) Beach; married second, (before 7 Feb. 1722/3), Rebecca Morehouse, born at Fairfield, Conn., 26 Apr. 1693, daughter of Thomas and Mary (Hill) Morehouse; married third, after 1752, Sarah (Thompson) Sherman, baptized at Stratfield, 20 Mar. 1709, died there 17 Apr. 1784 in 76th year (gravestone), daughter of Dea. John and Ruth (Curtis) Thompson, and widow of Lieut. David Sherman.
He represented Stratford in the General Assembly, May 1734, May 1739, May 1742, Oct. 1746, and Jan. and May 1747. [Col. Rec. of Conn., 7:482; 8:221, 445; 9:239, 262, 266.] Administration on his estate was granted, 4 May 1763, to Isaiah Brown of Stratford and John Burr of Fairfield. Distribution of his estate, 29 Apr. 1767, named Widow; heirs of David Booth, dec'd, eldest son; heirs of son Joseph Booth; sons John and Stephen; heirs of Hannah Hall dec'd, late wife of Richard Hall; Mehitable wife of Isaiah Brown; heirs of Mary Wakeman dec'd; Rebecca wife of Joseph Burton; Eunice wife of John Burr; and Sarah wife of Henry Summers. Another distribution calls Joseph the second son, John the third son, and Stephen the youngest son, and names Eunice Burritt in the place of heirs of Mary Wakeman."
