In 1920, Joseph Berman wrote a letter to the rabbi of Petrovichi, asking what had happened to his sister, Anna Berman. This led to a correspondence between Joseph and his younger half-sister, Anna, and her husband, Judah Asimov. Joseph invited his sister and brother-in-law to the US, and helped them settle in NY when they first arrived.
