Facts and Events
Name[1] Joseph P Austin
Gender Male
Marriage to Adele Mary Blair
Death[4] Bet 1911 and 1914

Very little is known about Joseph P. Austin. He married his wife Adele in St. Louis, Missouri and had one son, Joseph Harold born 1912. By 1914 his wife Adele was listed as being widowed living in Tulsa, Oklahoma (Reference details on wife's page). There is a Joseph Austin listed as single in the 1913 Tulsa City Directory[3]. It is therefore possible that Joseph and Adele did not marry until after their son was born, or they separated after he was born, or they were never actually married; it is also possible that the 1913 Joseph Austin in Tulsa is not Joseph P. Austin.

Sometime after his son died, his 2nd grandson allegedly put an ad in the paper asking for any information about Joseph P. Austin[2]. This account is disputed among some of the grandsons. A friend of the family, Bob Roach, contacted the grandson who published the ad and told him, "If you have any concerns about your ancestry, the only thing I can tell you is that your grandfather (Joseph P. Austin) had distinguished himself during the war." It is not known what war this was referring to, but since his wife Adele was widowed in 1914 it would be too early to be WWI. His 3rd grandson heard this story much later and wanted to pursue it further[2]
