An ethnic German from the Sudeten Mountains, Josefa Ludwig was born in Irmsdorf, Moravia, Austria (which is now Jamartice, Czech Republic). We do not know when or where she died.

After the expulsion of the German speaking people at the end of WWII, Irmsdorf was taken over by the Czech and renamed Jamartice.

She married Johann Georg Kosch on 11 Jan 1818 at #42 Irmsdorf, Moravia. They had 7 sons and 3 daughters
