The 1850 census shows Jonathan living with his parents in District 25, Dade County, Missouri. The 1860 census shows Jonathan living with his parents in Morgan Township, Dade County, Missouri. Jonathan Stanley served in the Civil War in the Union Army. He enlisted on November 1, 1863 as a private in Company E, 7th Regiment Provisional Enrolled Militia Infantry in Melville, Missouri. He enrolled as a private on October 31, 1863 in Company E, 76th Enrolled Missouri Militia Infantry. He was mustered out of service on February 29, 1864. He enlisted as a private on August 14, 1864 in Company E, 15th Missouri Cavalry in Melville, Missouri. He was promoted to corporal. He was mustered out of service on July 1, 1865 in Springfield, Missouri. Jonathan is buried in Long Cemetery, Morgan Township, Dade County, Missouri. References
