    "4. Jonathan2 Smith, born say 1635, died after 1711; married first, about 1660, Hannah Adams, who died perhaps in 1660, daughter of Jeremy and (probably) Rebecca (wid. Greenhill) Adams; married second, 1 Jan. 1663/4, Martha Bushnell, born about 1644, living 1705, daughter of Francis and Mary (Grombridge) Bushnell. … Jonathan was a deacon of the Glastonbury church; and served as Deputy for that town, nine sessions, between 1699 and 1708. … Jonathan Smith, Sr., of Middletown, Conn., bought 13 Mar. 1682/3 from James Tappin, Sr., of Middletown, land there on the east side of the 'Great River'; and on 15 Jan. 1699/1700, 'Jonathan Smith senr of Glossenbury' assigned this deed for love to 'my son in Law Joseph Long of Middletown.' On 8 Feb. 1711, being of Glastonbury, he conveyed for love to his son Richard Smith of Glastonbury, a third of his undivided lands In Middletown; other lands there to his son Jonathan Smith of Middletown, deed acknowledged 24 Apr. 1711; and several pieces of land in Middletown, 1 Apr. 1711, to his son Francis Smith of Middletown, on one of which Francis had lately erected a house."
