  3.   Source:Shepardson, Francis Wayland. Shepardson Family, p. 4, cites the work of a previous researcher saying that Jonathan was born 3 Jan 1735 to speculate the Jonathan born 19 Jan 1734 died in infancy and a third son named Jonathan was born. This seems unlikely. On p. 6, this sources says both Jonathan and Miriam died "the same day, 3 December, 1804". This is clearly incorrect for Miriam who signed a receipt in 1805 and is probably wrong for Jonathan, since his probate wasn't opened until the fall of 1805. No record of either death is found in Royalston VRs.

Source:Caswell, Lilley Brewer. History of the Town of Royalston, Massachusetts, p. 216, repeats the statement that "they both died the same day, Dec. 3, 1804", and adds another misstatement "He had ten children, all of whom were married previous to the removal to Royalston." The number of children, questioned on the Family page, apparently relies solely on the say-so of the Shepardson Family, but even that source does not support that they were all married. In fact, the death record of Rachel makes it very clear she never married, and the fact that a couple of other daughters were unmarried in 1805 (besides Rachel: Miriam and Hannah/Joannah). This being when they were all about forty or more, suggests they probably never married either.
