The 1829 Indenture for the Sale of Jonathan Potter’s Land19 was dated 17 April 1829, and it was made in Brookfield, Madison County, New York eight years after Jonathan’s death. A transcription of the first part is included with the document. Per this Indenture agreement, Patience Potter sold some or all of deceased Jonathan Potter’s property to Ruben Palmer for $650 on behalf of herself and four of Jonathan’s children and their spouses.
Named in the document were Patience Potter (widow of Jonathan Potter, deceased), Job Potter
and Betsy his wife, Levi Read and Elcy (Potter) his wife, Daniel Potter and Harriet his wife, and
Jonathan Potter Jr. and Julianne (Julia Ann) his wife.
