Madam

  I advise you that from the papers in the Revolutionary War pension claim, W. 13597, it appears that JONATHAN KNIGHT lived in Scituate, Providence, Rhode Island, during the Revolution. On December 25, 1775, he was commissioned ensign of the First Compnay or Trained Band of Scituate, Rhode Island, On September 24, 1775, he was commissioned lieutenant of the same company. On May 29, 1777, he was commissioned captain of same company. He served with the Rhode Island troops at various times from May, 1776, until sometime in March, 1781, amounting in all to about eighteen months, and held the ranks as above mentioned, under Colonels West, John Waterman, Stephen Kimbell, Chad Brown, Thomas Holden and Johnn Cocke, he was in Spencer's and Sullivan's Rhode Island expedition.

  He married November 26, 1770, Sarah Angell.
  
  He died March 19, 1822, in Scituate, Rhode Island

  His widow, Sarah, was allowed pension on her application executed September 17, 1835, at which time she was ninety years of age and was living in Scituate, Rhode Island.

 There only child, Chloe, married Asahel Knight, date not given.

 The Soldier, Jonathan Knight, was referred to as Jonathan Knight, Junior. The  date of his birth  is not given.

  The Revolutionary War records of this bureau fail to afford any information in regard to an Edward Knight.
