Jonathan Hewitt, a native of Ireland, came to this country (USA) in [by] 1779, and in 1786 to this section (Perry Township, Pennsylvania). No account is shown of purchase until Sep. 15, 1807, when he purchased of Thomas Barns one hundred and sixty acres of land, part of the tract of land which was patented Oct. 26, 1795. (See History of Fayette Co. - Franklin Ellis - 1882).
