Jonathan apparently left Maryland sometime after 1818 and resided in Brooke County VA (now WV). He was in Brooke County in 1842 when he and Harriet sold property in Kent County Maryland which had descended to her from Major Stradly. He was in Baltimore County MD in the 1850 census living with his son.

Jonathan was a Sergeant in Capt Vansants Co 33 Rgt.
