1736/7 Feb'ry 20. Jonas, Son of Josiah Stearns [baptized].
↑ Obviously the birth and baptism dates are incompatible, but the resolution is not known. Both are given precisely, so there does not appear to be any assumption added by a later researcher. Typically, church records are more reliable since they are recorded chronologically and it is hard to insert records after the fact. Thus the church version probably should be favored, but the date of birth and baptism is still reversed even if you make that assumption. It is possible that the first Josiah died and the second was born just over a year later, but the lack of a second baptism makes that a difficult case to justify. So the data is merely presented as it was recorded in the records.
