Child of JOHNIE NIX and FLORINE HOLCOMBE is: i. JOHNIE10 NIX. Greenville News Greenville, SC February 20, 2003 Johnie Nix, Walhalla Johnie V. Nix, 73, husband of Florine Holcombe Nix, of 110 Freedom Drive, Walhalla, died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at Oconee Memorial Hospital. A native of Haywood County, N.C., Mr. Nix was a retired employee of Winn-Dixie, with over 43 years of service. He was a member of Scenic Heights Baptist Church and Blue Ridge Masonic Lodge No. 92. In addition to his wife, of the home, Mr. Nix is survived by a son, John D. Nix, of Walhalla; sisters, Arressie Smith, of Seneca, and Lucille Garren, of Brevard, N.C.; grandchildren, Brandon Nix, Barry Nix and Ryan Nix; and two great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Nix was predeceased by a son, Dennis Wayne Nix; and a sister, Frances Jones. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, at Scenic Heights Baptist Church, with burial to follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The body is at Davenport Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends, from 6 to 8, tonight, Feb. 20, 2003; and, will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 21, 2003. He was a really sweet, kind-hearted man. He had suffered from COPD for years and although sad he suffered a lot near the end. His wife, Flo, is one of my favorite people in this world. She is having a rough time right now. They were totally devoted to one another. Please keep her in your prayers. Johnnie will be missed by a great many people in our little town. Susan |
