Chicago Tribune (IL) - November 09, 1984 John Zvetina, Loyola law professor emeritus Deceased Name: John A. Zvetina MASS FOR John A. Zvetina, a professor of law emeritus at the Loyola University Law School and a civic and Catholic church leader, will be said at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church, 1428 S. 59th Court, Cicero. Mr. Zvetina, 86, a longtime Cicero resident, died Tuesday in Loyola University Medical Center, near Maywood. Mr. Zvetina was a professor of law and chairman of the Department of Business Law at Loyola University when he retired in 1968 after 43 years as a faculty member. He was one of the 1968 recipients of the Medal of Excellence presented by the Loyola University Law Alumni Association. Mr. Zvetina also was a recipient of the Order of the Yugoslavian Crown for contributions he made to that country as a visiting professor of law in 1938 and 1939. LONG ACTIVE in Chicago Catholic Archdiocesan organizations, Mr. Zvetina had served as president of the Archdiocesan Union of Holy Name Societies, as secretary of Catholic Charities and as a member of the Cardinal's Committee on Human Relations. In 1946, Pope Pius XII bestowed on Mr. Zvetina the Pro Ecclesia Et-Pontifice Medal. In 1953, Mr. Zvetina was made a knight of St. Gregory. Mr. Zvetina had served on many civic organizations, including the Illinois State Board of Mental Health Commissioners, state Board of Public Welfare Commissioners and the Mayor's Committee on Juvenile Delinquency in Chicago. During World War II, he was a member of the appeal board for the Selective Service System in the Chicago area. Mr. Zvetina is survived by 3 sons, Edmund, Raymond and John; 10 grandchildren; a brother, Dr. James; and a sister, Marie Zak.
